History & Legacy

ATRAC was founded in1995 as a Technology Transfer company specializing in Technology Trade between Latin America, USA and Europe.

Initial Technologies included:

  • Radio Frequency (RF) Identification and communication technologies with AMTECH and TRANSCORE its systems company (www.transcore.com)
  • Network High Speed Communication Cards (also called NIC Cards) (www.interphase.com);
  • Location Based Services for Cellular Communication Providers as well as Fleet Management Operators (www.webraska.com.br);
  • High performance Embedded Solutions for Industrial Applications (www.menmicro.com).

In 2003, ATRAC started organizing and promoting the Sales, Rental, Operation of Water Weights – Imes Group in Brazil. ATRAC began operating mainly with companies working in the offshore industry, specifically in the Campos Basin in Brazil . In the same year ATRAC helped a Scottish QAQC company (Fearnley Procter Group) enter the Brazilian Oil and Gas market winning contracts with Petrobras, Shell, El Paso and Devon Energy.

 

In 2004, ATRAC was accredited by large companies such as PETROBRAS, amongst others, and at the request of its clients. ATRAC’s Load Testing Operation spawned from an equipment rental company to a full blown Safety Services Company.

 

In 2006 a new record was established with the first 275T A-Frame Water bag Load Test done in Latin America. During that year, the Lifeboat &. Davit Inspection Division was born to attend to the new requirements from IMO MSC. 1/CIRCL.1206 regulations.

 

In 2007 ATRAC established a new record: the load testing of three 330T sheaves in 36 hours with Water bags. In the same year ATRAC became part of the worldwide service network of ISS Machinery of Japan (www.issmachinery.com), increasing its capabilities to attend the Lifeboat & Davit Inspection needs of the local market.

 

In 2008 ATRAC entered the Crane Inspection Services business. Companies having cranes maintained and repaired prefer having a different company perform the inspection and testing of those repairs to avoid any conflict of interest.

ATRAC received credentials from UMOE SCHAT-HARDING (www.schat-harding.com) increasing its IMO MSC. 1/CIRCL. 1206 representation to over 30 Manufacturers.

ATRAC was accredited by ONIP as a qualified supplier for the oil industry.
ATRAC began its Crane Inspection Division in November 2008.

 

In 2009 ATRAC was recognized as the 5th largest Water Weights™ User Operation in the World. ATRAC´s Crane Inspection Division was reorganized as the Crane Services Division to include other specialized services such as commissioning and fine tuning of offshore and overhead cranes per local and international regulations.

 

In 2010 ATRAC launched its new website including an innovative web portal for its clients. This secured client Extranet enables real time accessibility to valuable Client Specific Operating Equipment Information to its Customers online.

 

In 2011 ATRAC became representative and service station for Scholle Europe t/a JW AUTOMARINE™ continuing the high quality service, repair work, certification and sales offer for a wide range of water bags and lifting bags. Following its strategy of strenghtening ATRAC´s Crane positioning, AADI & ATRAC announced partnership for the AADI´s MIPEG Crane Monitoring System in Brazil. ATRAC successfully tested a barge crane applying safely 660 tons with water bags setting a new South America record!

 

 

In 2012 ATRAC renewed its DNV Certification for Davit and Lifeboat Service Division. ATRAC also reconfirmed its leadership in high-tonnage load testing and launched its Guiding Principles. ATRAC ensured safety readiness to Oil and Gas Exploration load testing BOP Carrier and X-Mas Tree Trolley of P-23, a new record for load testing with water bags in open sea.
